Kerastase and Sebastian thermal protection solutions

By now, we are all aware that we have to protect our hair when using heat on it. Either when blow-drying it, or when using curling and flat irons tools on it.

I have 2 products that I am pretty found of: Sebastian Trillant (thermal protection and shimmer complex spray) and Kerastase Ciment Thermique (vita ciment topseal) a heat - activated reconstructing milk.

I was drawn to Sebastian shimmer complex at first, due to its watermelon scent and then I discovered how great it really is.
You have to give it a good shake every time you spray your hair with it, in order for the inside liquids to blend. I apply it on damp hair and either leave my hair to air-dry or, if in a hurry, I use a hairdryer. It brings a lot of body to my hair, nice movement and shine as well. I sometimes use it on dry hair as well, to add extra shine and to be completely honest, to add a light watermelon scent to it. I love it!

The Kerastase ciment thermique, is a leave-in cream that I apply on damp air, on mid-lengths and ends of my hair. Besides protecting my hair from heat styling tools, this one is repairing your hair as well. I find that when I am using it, before curling my hair, it makes my curl lasts longer and on normal use it also helps my hair look smoother and with a nice shine to it.

I have been using Kerastase products for the past 4 years and have to say that it make my hair feel more healthier, but I also do like the Sebastian product for the lovely scent, that makes me feel like is summer all year round.

Give it a try. I purchased these products online from amazon or feelunique.

Phyto 7 daily hydrating cream

Phyto 7, hydrating day cream with 7 plants is a leave-in conditioner which will calm your frizz immediately, while having your hair looking hydrated and with a natural shine.

Its all pure and natural plants do their magic at first touch. I use a pea-sized amount of this cream daily on dried hair, either by itself, or if I feel I need extra moisture, I will combine it with a hair oil as well.

It does not make your hair feel heavy and its formulated for daily use. I even have it in my purse, in case I need extra moisture during the day as well.

I ordered mine online.

Pores NO more. Benefit and Kiehl's solution

This is what is going to happen if you try any of these products: you will see your pores disappear, the efficiency of the products will surprise you and you might start receiving compliments for your skin! Now you know ... so expect greatness!

When you get stopped by a random stranger on the street, telling you that your face is soooo cute ... you start realising that the makeup artist from Sephora had it right when she recommended you to use: a moisturiser, a pore minimising solution and a dewy foundation for achieving a fresh, luminous, perfected skin.

If you are comfortable with the silicon base primers look after Benefit, the POREfessional balm and if you prefer a non-silicon product, try the Kiehl's Rare earth pore refining tonic, which can also improve your pore appearance on the long run. I cannot vouch for the long run thing, but on the day you use them, they definitely do their magic!

Sometimes I use these on the no-foundation days as well, for a smooth skin.

The POREfessional balm I use after applying a light layer of moisturiser cream all over my face. I wait 2-3 minutes and then I apply my chosen foundation for the day.
This can also be used on top of foundation, with a patting motion and taking time to blend the product into the skin.

The Kiehl's pore tonic has clay in it, so, you have to give it a good shake prior to using it. When mixed, you can place a generous amount of tonic onto a cotton wool pad and start buffing it into the T-zone or if you suffer from all-over oily skin, just use it all over the face. If you place it only on your T-zone, be sure to apply a cream on your cheeks as well, a hydrating or a luminizing one, you decide! Then apply your foundation and voila!

Beside helping with your pore appearance, both products help your make-up stay longer on your skin.

You can try them at local stores and you can also find them online (Benefit POREfessional, Kiehl Rare earth pore refining tonic).

Gommage, or no Gommage?

I would recommend...to gommage from time to time! At least once a week or when you think you need one. For the past months, for the gommage session, I have been using these two, each for different reasons.

The Clarins, Smoothing Body Scrub is great if you want a perfectly clean scrub type of product, which you use after your normal shower gel or cream or why not mixing them up and apply them together, your shower gel with your scrub product. And, just massage it in! It contains bamboo powders, which is very handy if one has rough, flaky skin to work with. Then you will get the clean from the shower gel/cream and the scrub will just offer you a soft, smooth and in the promotion it says firm as well, but I would recommend some gym time for a visible firming skin! If you get my point...

The L'Occitane, Shower Scrub is a cleansing and exfoliating in one. Which for me is genial. And the smell is great for both men and women, so its a safe one to have in the shower for a non-flowery smell type of person as well. It leaves a light, fresh scent to the skin.

Both are great products, but the one that I find myself reaching the most is the L'Occitane one, because beside cleansing, scrubbing my skin, it does not leave it with a dry feeling. I usually follow it, either with my Avene balm (which I talked about in this post) or with my Lush Body Conditioner (about which you can read in this post).

I am all about clean, scrubbed and hydrated skin! Who isn't?

Try these products in-store or purchase them online from sites like amazon (Clarins, L'Occitane).

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream

Elizabeth Arden 8 hours cream has been a cult since 1930s and is famous as a soothing and moisturising skin protectant lotion today.

I have been using it for almost 3 years and is the cream that I use daily, all seasons and it has made my life easier.

You cannot go wrong with it, as long as you go for the fragrance free one.

I use this balm mainly for lips, I have not had dry lips since I bought this one, it is the only cream that I take with me everywhere, on the sky slopes, on the beach, I have one in my purse all the time.

I add shine to my cheeks and I apply it on dry patches as well. In winter, I also use it to calm my skin after being in windy, snowy weather.

It definitely is a all purpose product, because it can also be used on browns to keep them in place, use on cuticles to keep them hydrated and smooth, it can smooth rough heels and soften soles for barefoot beauty. Isn't it wonderful. I totally understand all the awards that it received over the years!

If you want to read how it come to be names 8 hours cream, check out this link.

Try it at any Elizabeth Arden counter in your city. It can also be purchased online from feelunique.com.

La Roche-Posay: Effaclar Duo

I have dry skin all year around, but as far as I noticed I am prone to blemishes as well.

Have struggled with all kind of anti-blemishes sticks and creams, until I read about this product from La Roche-Posay, Effaclar Duo and decided to give it a go.

This bottle is magical!

You will need nothing else than this, if you suffer from blemishes from time to time. In the beginning I started using it after cleansing, in the evenings and mornings all around my face. After just 1 week, my skin was cleared.

At the moment, I am using it, just when needed and mostly locally, on the existing blemish or on the area which looks like something might appear during night. It is incredible when used as a preventive tool, I do not know exactly how it does it, but I do call it my magical cream!

It does what it promises, its unclogging blocked pores, correcting the appearance of blemishes and refines the skin texture. Non-sticky, non-oily finish which creates an excellent base for make-up.

I purchase mine from the local Pharmacy, in Copenhagen, but it can be purchased online from Amazon as well.

Masque Creme Fraiche

What would a girl do without her face masks?

I have been using this one from Nuxe all over my face, daily as night treatment. Masque Creme Fraiche de beaute is a 24h soothing and rehydrating fresh mask.

It contains plant milks and white blossom, and have to say that it smells divine. It makes you relax to the depth of your souL! It's like having an aromatherapy session every time you use it. Totally addictive!

It's my new favourite thing for a good night sleep.

It can also be used just for 10 minutes for quick results.

I still use the Ultra repair instant oatmeal mask from First Aid Beauty, that I talk about in this post for when I need an instant result and have no time to spare.

I purchased mine in Magasin store in Copenhagen, but I checked for online options, and it seems it can be ordered from Amazon as well.

Hair system kit for voluminous hair

As most girls, I am also a big fan of Victoria Secret yearly fashion shows (my favourite one is from 2008)!

On one hand, it keeps my motivation high for training (those girls have amazing bodies) and on another hand, it also pushes me to continue the search for the best hair products that could help me achieve a nice voluminous hair! These girls have awesome looking hair.

Have been trying the Nioxin HAIR SYSTEM KIT for the past year and I am pretty happy with it. It has different ranking system for intensity, and after reading about it I decided to go for No. 6 (the highest intensity available in this range).

It's a 3 step program that has been formulated to strengthen and thicken each individual hair strand. Sounds fancy no? This means lots of volume, and it definitely delivers it!

The treatment consists of 3 products which are designed to be used together: the cleanser (a deep cleansing shampoo), the scalp revitaliser conditioner (which I use to massage my scalp and I also add a pea sized amount on the ends of my hair) and a scalp and hair treatment mouse, a leave-in treatment.

After using these products together, you hair is hydrated and has plenty of volume to help one get its hair in the shape she wants!

I bought mine from a salon, but here are other options that I found online: amazon and lookfantastic.

Tangle Teezer anyone?

No, it's nothing naughty about this, I am just talking about a brush!

Tangle Teezer Detangling Brush or THE brush, as it has been called in my house for the past few months.

I recommended it to my girlfriends as well, and they all seem to like it as much as I do.
I used it on my niece's curly hair and her reaction was: "I like it more when you brush my hair, than when mommy does. You do not hurt me". I was surprised to hear my 10 years old niece talking about her pain when her hair is being brushed.

I had this brush for the past 1 year, and I do not go anywhere without it. I take it with me when I am traveling, going to gym, going to sleep at my friends house, you name it. I ordered another one, just to have one in my bathroom at all times!

Tangle Teezer its known for its unique bristles configuration (man look at it and think its for brushing animals, you could use it, I think, but buy a different one, do not share yours). Those bristles are flexing upon contact with tangles, making brushing your hair easy and stress free on both wet and dry hair. The handle is designed to fit in the palm of your hand.

I am also happily using it after I am curling my hair, just to open the curls and give them a soft feel.

In my humble opinion, I would urge all girls (I heard that men love it as well) to go and purchase one of these brushes, as you can see on their website it comes in all possible colours. What else could a girl wish for?!

I ordered mine from Amazon.co.uk

Waterpik for cleaner teeth and gums

I always had problems with my teeth and only when I was 28 years old I decided to wear braces in order to improve my teeth situation.

I opted for lingual braces for more than one reason. The lingual braces are hidden behind your teeth, so nobody can see them, just the user can feel them, you can see the results on the day to day basis, because you have a direct view to your teeth, the appliances and wires are custom made for your own teeth, they are very comfortable after your tongue gets used to the foreign objects in your mouth, off course I could say a lot of things about this procedure, but this post is about something that was really helpful in keeping my teeth and gums clean during this process.

Anyone that had braces (the lingual ones or the outside ones) knows that using a toothbrush is not enough. It is not easy to floss while having the braces on.

Besides your regular (every month) appointment with your orthodontist, you have to go as often as needed (recommended every 3 months) for a professional cleaning and having your teeth checked at your general dentist.

Easier said than done.

This is why this product came as a saver for me!

I have chosen the Waterpik Water Flosser (WP-450). I find it ideal for the time when I had braces, but also right now when I just want to have my teeth and gums feel completely clean and fresh. Its ideal for those that do not like to floss and anyone with braces, implants, crowns, bridges or periodontal pockets. This model is a cordless one, so its ideal for traveling as well.

Waterpik Waterflosser provides a unique combination of water pressure and pulsations to massage and stimulate gums, and remove plaque and bacteria deep between teeth and below the gumline where traditional brushing and flossing can not reach. Having tried the Philips Sonicare Air Floss, it made me understand why I like the Waterpik so much. Its because it has a continuous water flow and this makes cleaning teeth and gums way easier and could say gentle than the compressed air and high speed water droplets used by the Philip's product. Its a different experience, that is for sure!

I bought my Waterpik, just after 1 year of wearing braces, and it definitely changed my life, my teeth life and gums for sure. My orthodontist was surprised of the results, even only after 1 month of use and my normal dentist asked me if I cleaned my teeth recently somewhere else. When I told them that I had my professional cleaning 5 months before, they thought that I am joking.

No, and its all because of the amazing Waterpik Water Flosser.

I recommended it to some of my friends, that I heard complaining about their gums and/or teeth and they all said its a great product.

I ordered mine from Amazon.co.uk. It comes with 4 tips. Each of them is specially designed for specific problems, but have to admit that I use which ever I have available in the house, but this is my favourite one.

I have had my lingual braces placed in Denmark at Becktor.

Conditioner with argan oil, for body

Wouldn't be nice to have a conditioner for body as we have for the hair. Just use it in the shower, wash it off and your body retains the hydration, as if you applied cream on it. No after shower creaming session needed.

OH YES it would! At least for me.

After trying Nivea In-shower Body Milk, and not being fully impressed with it (maybe because of my very dry skin situation), I was almost giving up on looking for something with a similar concept.

My search ended this weekend, when traveling to Hamburg, I found a LUSH store and decided to try its Ro's Argan Body Conditioner. The smell is amazing, rose scented, as the name say it as well (Ro's sounds as rose), it contains argan oil, almond oil, brazil nut oil, cocoa butter and so many other amazing stuff.

This is for those mornings or evenings, where there is little time to do a proper moisturising session, but still need/want some me-time :) Quick and easy body conditioner that left my skin moisturised for the entire day and my skin smelled like roses and almond oil. You almost are in no need of adding your perfume after using this awesome product from Lush. This product leaves your body smelling so cute the entire day! I say cute, hoping as just like me, others like a sweet rose scent!

So, lets recap....use Lush Ro's Argan Body conditioner after your normal shower gel/scrub, let it be for few minutes on your skin, as you would with your hair conditioner, wash it off afterwards, pat dry your skin with your towel (do not rub in), let it sink in (just few minutes) and you will need no extra moisturiser and no perfume for the entire day!

This is a time-saver product.

We have no LUSH store in Denmark, but try to order from the UK link that I provided above. Otherwise plan a trip to Germany and you can get to try all their products, and let me tell you something ... they definitely have a few!

Exactly what I needed, tanning oil with SPF

Last sunday, I have been to the seaside in Copenhagen! An event in its own way!
It was the first proper day in the sun for me. I used my regular SPF and while sun-bathing, I was just thinking, that would have been so nice to have a tanning product with SPF included. Just to be honest, my skin looked a bit transparent after the long winter months.
With this in the back of my mind, I went to meet a very good friend of mine in a shopping mall. Not for fun, but for a awesome project that she just started. While waiting, I have seen a promotion at the NUXE counter (buy 2 products receive a face mask).
OH MY! With no time to spare, I started checking the newest products. Who knew!?! NUXE has NUXE SUN now and I found this:

NUXE SUN, tanning oil for face and body, anti-aging cellular protection sublime tan. SPF 10. Soo very close to perfection!

The great part is that it smells amazing and its a dry oil. Like the NUXE's Multi usage dry oil that I talked in a previous post, it also leaves the skin hydrated and now this one, it even protects your skin agaist SPF and UVB. Definitely a low protection, so use carefully.

Who wouldn't want a tanning oil that smells so awesome and it protects you a bit as well! I love it already and I just been using it around the house.

Go on and try it!

In Copenhagen, you can find it at NUXE counter in Magasin.

Healthy looking sheen - for legs!

We had a great summer start in Copenhagen and with the help of some Bank holidays (Public holidays), everybody is over the moon happy!

Taking out all the summery clothes and realising that all the dresses and short pants require super nice looking legs, could distract some of us from all the happiness, but not me!

One month ago, I purchase Kiehl's Creme de Corps and when using it, in the mornings after showering, it keeps my skin hydrated all day. I find a little bit goes a long way and it looks like will last me ages.

The best way to apply it in the mornings, would be after showering and way before you do your makeup, so it will have time to sink in. What you get is a soft, smooth and deeply hydrated skin.

What I like it best and been using it a lot is for my legs. It ads a healthy sheen. I even think that it perfects my legs and they are camera ready all the time. In Love!

I wrote about my Instagram love recently, I found that some international makeup artist promote this cream as the secret weapon at catwalk shows. I totally understand why!

Give it a go.

If in Copenhagen, order it from Magasin, or pay them a visit and ask for a sample. Its pretty cool if you are a foreigner, cause Magasin has 10% discount for people with a foreign passport/id!

Body oils. Special occasion or for pampering time!

Off course during the years, I was drawn to baby oils, as many of us girls are, for more than one reason: I wanted that baby skin that everybody likes and if it is good for a baby, it must be really natural and healthy for a young lady as me as well!

In recent years, I decided to upgrade my oils, from baby ones to more adult look and feel ones. Lets have a look what I found that works for me.

Reading online reviews and talking with skin specialist as well, I got to hear that rose oil can improve acne and skin scarring, and I decided that I need to try one to believe.

I purchased the Dr. Hauschka Rose Body Oil, firstly for this problem and secondly because when I felt the scent I was hooked.

This body oil smells like fresh, full-bloom red roses. The scent is light and the oil is easily absorbed in the skin, so it does not leave a greasy residue on the skin. Within minutes it gives a velvety and plumped up skin.  As the product says it "harmonizes and nurtures skin and senses". Oh YES. It even helps me sleep like a baby. The bedrooms smells like roses for a while, just in time for me to fall asleep!

In the winter, I am also using this oil on my face, but just on my cheeks, I feel like it helps me obtain a healthy glow.

I had a knee surgery few months ago, and I do think that it improved my surgery scars as well, so I am a very happy user.

When traveling, just with a hand luggage and you need a face oil, a hair oil and a nice body oil as well which could play the perfume role as well, look no further than the Nuxe Multi-usage dry oil

Its my hands on product for when traveling or for special occasions as well. The scent is great, appreciated by both women and men, at least in my circle they do. It hydrates the skin, its easily absorbed, hence the dry oil. I like using it on my hair as well, when I need a pick me up feeling to my second or third day hair, eases the frizz and makes my hair feel and smell lovely.

When going to a special occasion, like I have been to a wedding this last Saturday, I used it on my decolletage and on my legs few minutes before going out the door. It looked great and you feel sooooo.... special, due to the luxe feeling it holds on. Not as special as the bride, but as close as it can be!

Both body oils, are special in their own way. So in love with both of them!

If in Copenhagen, try these products in Matas, Magasin or Illum.

Clean skin everyday. My recipe

Instagram has been my new favourite app recently! Hands down! First app that I check in the mornings and last app that I check in the evenings. (I should mention that I enjoy Flipboard a lot as well, wanted to mention this, in case that my friend from Rotterdam read this post as well:)

A wise man said, aka Calvin Klein (instagram quate): "The best thing is to look natural, but it takes make-up to look natural"
True indeed.... probably, we should not let the man in our lives know that...
I would like to add to what the wise man said so nicely, that cleansing, skin care is as important, if not, more important than makeup!

So, I thought about sharing some of my favourites cleansers, a deep cleansing gadget and a great mask for dry skin.

In the evening, I pretty much do the following procedure, night after night. First item is from Purity, One step cleanser witch I use together with Clarisonic Mia. I use my Clarisonic with the sensitive brush head. I bought it 3 years ago and I am so happy that I did, cause when my then fiance complimented me on my skin, I knew that I made the right decision.

Clarisonic is a deep cleansing system, and what I seen that it works, is to use the Clarisonic for the second cleanse, meaning that the first cleanse I am doing it just with the Purity cleanser one.
I gently massage a little amount of the cleanser onto a light damp face. Massage for 30-60 seconds. Rinse and pat dry. For the second cleanse, I use the same amount of Purity that I used in the first cleanse, but this time together with Clarisonic Mia. Press here for more info on Sonic Technology and all the technicalities around this gadget.

You see that it works, when you apply your creams after all the cleansing system that I described above. Everything sits correctly on the skin, in goes in the skin as well....off course it sounds as a great bed time story, but I would suggest trying in the stores if in any doubt. Seeing is believing sometimes!

In the morning, I use the Clarins, Pure melt cleansing Gel. You can already see that I prefer cleansers that go with water. I do feel like I am completely and efficiently cleansing my skin this way. At first touch, this seems like a gel, in contact with the face, while massaging it, it transforms into a oil, and when adding water, it becomes a silky milk that rinses skin clean. It has the same soft fragrance that all Clarins products have, which I do enjoy a lot. The sensation that I have after this cleanse, is pure JOY! The day definitely can start now!

Every now and then, for special occasions, like tomorrow I go to a wedding (I love weddings, it makes me so happy to be part of my friends special day...I DO), and after the cleansing with Clarins gel, I will make a mask, a hydrating one to be more specific, which is from First Aid Beauty, the Ultra repair instant oatmeal mask. After 10 minutes, in witch you can brush your teeth, your skin will be nourished for the day.

Love it!

Easy everyday makeup

For everyday makeup, I usually go for products that easily deliver a fresh look. Today I had 10 minutes to prepare my face for a day of work.

I started by applying Bobbi Brown Eye Repair Cream, which is a very hydrating cream and gives a fresh appearance to the eyes. Then I applied the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm, which makes my skin brighten, tighten and hydrated for the entire day. This is a miracle cream indeed!

The foundation that made my friends tell me that I look younger and like I slept for days, is the Make Up Forever Liquid Lift Foundation in No. 2, which delivers a pretty, healthy glow. Great for my dry skin, has a lightweight texture, easy to apply with fingers or with Sephora Mineral Powder brush, which delivers a air brush feeling to it. This foundation has a medium coverage, dewy finish and moisturises the skin for a supple, smoother result.

As concealer, I recently started using the Diorskin Nude Concealer in No. 2, which has a intensely moisturising formula. As can been noted, moisturising is the main thing that I am interesting when dealing with my skincare. This is what's happening when you are dealing with sensitive-dry skin...

Since I discovered cream blushes, it is hard for me to return to the powder ones, I love how the cream blushes blend into my skin, making me look like I blush from within. Bobbi brown Lips and Cheeks cream, in Powder Pink 6, is my go to product for rosy checks. I blend it with my fingers and if needed I use the Sephora brush as well to blend everything nicely!

Today I decided to add some Bobbi Brown bronzing powder in colour Golden light 1, for a more contoured look. I used Mac blush brush 116 to apply a light contour and to add some colour to my not yet bronzed face...

For my eyes, I used the Max Factor masterpiece colour precision eyeshadow cream, in Icicle rose 7. After curling my lashes using the Shu Uemura eyelash curler, I applied the L'Oreal Volume Million lashes mascara on my top and lower lashes.

I placed a light lavender shimmery colour from the YSL 5 colour harmony for eyes in Moka to the inner corner of my eyes.

It might sound as a long list of products, but it takes 10 minutes to put it into practice. That's if you have all your products around, if you have to look for them...that depends how fast you can run around your apartment!

The solution for sensitive-dry skin comes from French pharmacy

For sensitive and dry skin people out there I have a suggestion.

Since I started cycling on a daily basis few years ago, my skin texture has changed from normal to sensitive-dry skin. All the itchiness and dry patches have made me try all kinds of products from Body Shop to L’occitane range. No real success though. I decided that its time to ask for professional help, so I went to a dermatologist. Experiencing this meeting and after reading about her suggested products online, I decided that I will give it a go!

As a side note, I should mention, that I have dry skin all around my body, so it was recommended to use special designed products for sensitive skin all day long, even when I am just washing my hands. As my dermatologist said it, if I want long term skin recovery I should be consistent in my approach.

First, I should talk about Eau Thermale Avene Trixera+, emollient and cleansing gel, soap free, paraben free, fragrance free for very dry sensitive and atopic skin. Avene is a well-known French dermo-cosmetic brand dedicated to each level of skin sensitivity and each product contains the Avene Thermal spring water, a unique ingredient whose properties have been endorsed by dermatologists over the years.

After showering with Avene’s Trixera+, I have been using the Eau Thermale Avene Trixera+, Emollient balm, a very rich texture that is specially formulated for moderate to intense skin dryness and eczema in infants, children and adults. This balm has repaired, calmed and soothed my sensitive skin for the past 4 weeks like nothing before. I would have to say that I think, in my humble opinion off course, that the combination of gel and balm is the winning formula for my so very sensitive skin.
I was never as prepared for summer as I am right now.

Together with this winning combination from Avene, I started using another French pharmacy legacy product, from La Roche-Posay, Cicaplast Baume B5. This soothing, multi-repairing balm solves skin irritations problems in adults, children and babies and can be applied to body, face and lips. Paraben free. Fragrance free. Lanolin free, white mark free, so I can usually go out the door after applying this cream on my rough patches, because this is how bad my skin was, rough patches and all that comes with that. Cicaplast baume B5 is great for chapped lips as well, for men and women, as has no color, just moisture.

I also know that when you find something that works, you should stick with it. Besides the healing properties, I discovered another big advantage, the fact that is fragrance free, makes me feel my chosen perfume in a cleaner, a more powerful way!
